Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to some common questions about The Good Book.

Blue down arrow

For what denomination is this written?

The Good Book is nondenominational, allowing the pastor or small group leader to input a specific denomination’s beliefs into the lessons as he or she deems necessary.

How can you cover 40 key themes in 8 weeks?

Each weekday, participants will read a chapter of The Good Book (and the accompanying Bible chapter), which covers one of the 40 themes. Then during the service (weekend or midweek), the pastor or leader will lead the group through that week’s themes.

What is the connection between key themes, ideas, and chapters?

The terms themes and ideas are used interchangeably. Each day of The Good Book covers one key theme/idea from Scripture. Each of these themes/ideas has a key chapter of Scripture associated with it. We recommend you read the corresponding Bible chapter before and after reading the chapter from The Good Book. This helps cement each of the 40 themes directly in Scripture.

Does The Good Book for Kids match the content of The Good Book?

Yes, The Good Book for Kids matches The Good Book chapter for chapter, so you and your child are learning the same theme on the same day. This prompts family discussions in the car and around the dinner table.

What do participants do between the sessions?

Between sessions, participants will be reading five chapters of the book, one per day, in order to prepare for the next session. We also recommend participants to read the corresponding Bible chapter before and after reading the chapter from The Good Book.

Can I read a sample?

Definitely! You can view the first session of the DVD (over 15 minutes of video) as well as the first chapter of The Good Book, The Good Book for Kids, and The Good Book Participant’s Guide by going here.

What do I need to run this program in my church?

You will need The Good Book Church Campaign Kit, one copy of The Good Book Participant’s Guide per participant, and at least one copy of The Good Book per family. We also advise one copy of The Good Book for Kids per family with a child aged 8 to 12.

What do I need to run this program with my personal small group?

You will need The Good Book Small Group Curriculum Kit, one copy of The Good Book Participant’s Guide per participant, and at least one copy of The Good Book per family. We also advise one copy of The Good Book for Kids per family with a child aged 8 to 12.

What materials do I need per participating church/small group member?

We recommend every participating member have his or her own participant’s guide, with at least one copy of The Good Book per family. In addition, if the family has a child aged 8 to 12, we highly recommend a copy of The Good Book for Kids as well.
